Change the World - Be a Better Driver!
Nov 18, 2019
Hi, I’m Diana a WILDD Hearts founder.
As WILDD Hearts, we strive to do a little something each day to make the world a better place. There are so many ways to contribute to making this world just a little better place to be.
Today I’m going to talk about one of these ways – be a courteous driver!
I’m going to give you examples of 3 different kinds of drivers.
Example #1:
25 – 30 years ago, when my kids were small, they would go stay with their grandparents for a few days. Then, Grandma and grandpa would drive them the 90 miles from the desert back to the mountains where we lived. My kids lived to tell it about it!
Grandma and grandpa were very cautious when they had their beloved grandkids in the car. They would drive 10 miles under the speed limit! Knowing they were driving slow, they stayed in the right hand lane.
Traffic was backed up! People were impatient! And my embarrassed kids reported that their grandparents didn’t have a clue.
The Kids got a kick out of writing a big sign that said, “save us"! No one ever did of course and their grandparents were oblivious.
This is a great example of an "unaware but cautious driver".
Example #2:
Fast forward another 15 years and Granny proactively, prepared herself and few other loved ones, for the day she decided she was no longer a safe driver.
She "grounded" herself from driving. She gave away her car and set up alternative transportation. She had taken the highroad, and became an example and beacon of light.
Example #3:
I was on road trip with my beautiful daughter, Amy. While she was driving, she calmly and sweetly described her experience of being a new yogi. She explained how it was affecting her perception of everything! That she was becoming a kinder, more peaceful version of herself, just then as she looked in the rear-view mirror, she blurted out a list of profanities starting with "Get off my @#$%…. and ended with SOB"!
Instead of blushing, I burst out laughing! Because of how in-congruent my daughter’s prior words were with her actions. She started laughing also and it brought us around to some really deep discussion about how we become more aware of ourselves and how we change our behaviors.
I’m guessing that we’ve all been on both sides of the driver scenarios, I know I have more than once.
What this brings me to is that we are all human beings trying to do our best.
Stuff happens and sometimes we’re not being very present or aware of our actions. Demonstrating kindness to others that can make a gigantic difference in the world.
Thanks for listening and have a wonderful day!
Drive Safely, WILDD Hearts! 🚘
